Think outside the box

At first glance, you immediately wonder “How did they do that?”. This question is either immediately preceded or followed by “Wow, that is pretty cool.” I didn’t take the photo, but I think I have it figured out.
The photographer took 3 champagne flutes and filled them with water. Then, when everything was set (the water was calm, the lighting and backdrop were perfect), he/ she dropped food coloring into the flutes and started snapping pictures. For presentation purposes, the photographer inverted the image, taking what might have been a unique and interesting photo and turning it into a “Wow” photo. I am pretty confident that the “reflections” at the bottom are just a photoshop trick. The flash exposure on the rim of the glass is duplicated perfectly. If (ok, when?) I try this, I’ll try to get the lighting perfect so I don’t need the flash. But no photo is ever perfect. If they were, they would get boring quickly. Kudos to this person for thinking outside the box.
